Cho Oyu Expedition
Approach Cho Oyu from the Tibetan plateau for a sustained high-altitude expedition with base and advanced camps.
Tibetan Himalaya, Tibet / Expedition
A Tibetan plateau approach through the Kerung corridor leads to Shishapangma base and advanced camps for an extended climbing period.

Shishapangma lies on the Tibetan side of the Himalaya, approached through the plateau settlements before moving into mountain camps. This programme includes preparation in Kathmandu, travel through the Kerung corridor and acclimatization near Tingri. The exact summit objective and the route beyond the main climbing camps must be agreed for the expedition.
This programme combines time on the Tibetan plateau with an extended climbing period. Access, permits and the final road route must be agreed before travel. Higher camps, acclimatization rotations and the summit attempt depend on mountain conditions. We plan the support and equipment around the team rather than a fixed summit date.
This is an outline programme. The team will confirm the route and arrangements with you, allowing for weather, access and local conditions.
Arrive, check equipment and allow time for the agreed travel documents and expedition arrangements.
Drive towards Timure and enter by the agreed Kerung corridor arrangements.
Continue onto the plateau and include a preparation and acclimatization day.
Reach the road-access base, rest and move towards advanced base camp.
Complete camp rotations and assess the agreed summit objective when conditions permit.
Descend to the road base and travel back through the plateau and border connection.
Rest and allow for changes to the return journey.
Transfer for your onward flight.
Request an itemised quotation for your group, dates and preferred level of support. Agree the inclusions before booking travel.
Previous high-altitude expeditions, competent glacier and fixed-rope skills, and experience on exposed snow ridges are required.
Accommodation: Hotels during the approach and return, with expedition camps on the mountain.
Use the trip preparation guide to plan equipment, travel documents and questions for the team.
The main summit and central summit are different objectives. The main summit involves additional exposed terrain beyond the central summit. Your quotation and climbing plan should identify the intended objective clearly.
The final entry route and permits must be confirmed for your departure. The itinerary provides time for preparation and plateau travel, with changes possible before and during the expedition.
