A closer look at the journey.

The Chomolhari route begins in the Paro Valley and follows the river into increasingly open mountain country. Jangothang, beneath the Chomolhari massif, gives the journey its focal point. The programme allows time there before continuing toward Lingshi and the passes that link the upper valleys with the approach to Thimphu.

This is a sustained camping trek with remote walking days, rather than a short excursion from Paro. Rest and exploration time at Jangothang and Lingshi help shape the pace. Cultural visits in Paro and Thimphu frame the mountain journey, including a Taktsang walk when the local programme and conditions allow.
